We have decided to have a seperate bathtub and shower and keep the exterior door where it is so that someday we can extend the deck out and around and drop in a hottub to outside the bathroom door.
After juch debate I have decided upon a free standing tub in lieu of a drop in with tile enclosure. I have nixed the clawfoot idea, just for the annoyance of having to find one, and I also would like to really have a new clean and modern room.
I decided to showcase a few free standing tubs in this post that really make the room, and capture a drama, elegance, and modernity.

I adore the platform and white gravel they placed around this tub. Although beautiful and sculptural enough to stand alone in the room, I personally prefer privacy and a door to close while I bask in my oasis.
This bath has a cozy feel and yet is still stately because of the modern yet traditional look of the free standing tub.

This is fantastic, and if I could afford a square ceramic tub such as this I would definitely get one. Made by Colacril.

I love the way they incorporated the stone and the marble here for this wetroom.

This could be my perfect bathtub, clean and modern, yet comfortable looking.

Who wouldn't want a koi pond with lily pads in their bathroom?

I really like theplatform around this one...

Alot of clever design here, and the tub looks close to what I am thinking of getting. Also they incorporated another one of my ideas. A stone wall.

I like that you can put the tub on an angle when they are free standing.
Here are a few of the tubs I was thinking of:

Love the square one! At first I thought it was a sink! I can't believe these aren't 900 million dollars! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI love that square one too! The tubs that I know are under 2K though are just the ones I was considering in the last portion. I believe I saw the square one for between 2-4K...a bit expensive for a weekend place, but if you wanted to splurge on ONE item, you could think of it as a really nice range oven for your kitchen!
ReplyDeleteplease tell me where I can find any of these tubs for under $2000?
ReplyDeleteThe tubs in the last section (which are the ones I was referencing as under 2K)You can find those tubs on www.ecrater.com. It didn't take me long to find them either. They are $949-999.00 plus the $385 shipping. Tax included. It also includes the $500-600 free standing faucet. You can also find them other places, for aproximately $1300-1500 with free shipping and taxes and faucet.
ReplyDeleteYou should leave your name/email when you post so I can email you directly with the links.
Thank you Megan; I appreciate the info and inspiration. Have you ordered from this website?
ReplyDeleteLynn- I haven't yet. I probably will be in the next few weeks to month. I will definitely post which tub and how the process goes for anyone who may potentially be interested. It is always a bit more nerving when you can't see them in person- so I will let you know!
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading the blog!
Great post. Could you send me the links on where I could find the very first and last tubs you posted here. I am very interested in one for my room.

Were do you purchase them??
ReplyDeleteHi. Love your blog. How do you know the ones you are considering are comfortable?
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading- as time has gone on I have changed my direction on the bathroom due to the fact the home was built on a cement slab- consequently the only type of freestanding tub I could have would be the "clawfoot" type. This is due to the drain access. This is definitely something anyone would need to know before purchasing. If you have a crawl space, a basement or the bathroom is on a second floor you should be fine though! I believe I posted the new bathroom design on another page later explaining this. As for comfort, you have to take a leap at times if you are willing to get a piece for a discounted price by not buying from a showroom. I do however know that a few of them I have seen in high end hardware and bathroom showrooms and you could..."get in them" if you are so bold. I think generally the only way to really know though would be to take an actual bath in them! I would suggest googling the exact name of the tub and find out if anyone owns it and ask them. I for instance almost bought the Duravit Stark soaking tub and found someone on flickr who had it and asked them- they explained that it was so deep it was hard to get out of (scary in fact) so I went in another direction. I stuck with a Duravit tub though. I will be posting pics of the ends result at the end of October when the work is finished.
ReplyDeleteWhere can I see and try out the last tub picture that you described as the most expensive one.
ReplyDeleteThanks
Lynda
The last one is the expensive one, and it is the only one over 2k. It is the agape spoon tub.

please can someone tell me who designed the last bath I love it and would like it in my bathroom
ReplyDeleteplease Megan ? Lynn ?
To Gillycee- The designer is listed in the comment above the one you wrote. It is the Agape (Designer) Spoon Tub (model) A gorgeous gorgeous tub.
ReplyDeleteCheck Ebay regularly and also seek out sample sales. I also provided a link in the comment above yours to their website. Check the threads, there have been plenty of conversation over the different tubs.
I like the concept of platform around the tub like in first and seventh design. It can make getting in and getting out easier and safe. All the designs are nice. I would love to remodel my bathroom with one of these bathtubs.
