Our New House....

In about 3-4 weeks, we will be moving into our new house where we will become full time Woodstock NY residents. I wasn't going to post the house until we moved in, but I want to do some posts that will make much more sense when you have context!

This house, needs quite a bit of renovation. Like our current home, I am anticipating putting some work in before it gets to be the dream house I know it can be. It has great bones though, an unbelievable outdoor space and it is ON the Sawkill Creek.  We got a great deal on it, but we are going to be VERY sad to let go of our first house. sigh!

Welcome!

This is where Richard's office will be,  with two access points. One is a private entrance which is perfect for clients!
entryway, and our realtors...
view from when you first walk in- that is terrazzo tile
I am sure you can imagine how badly I want to get in there and have their furniture and carpet GONE
This gross built in is the 2nd project! GONE and open to the kitchen! (there is more terrazzo under that green carpet.)
our first renovation will be to make it tiny doggy friendly
big windows with views of the rushing creek, swimming hole and meadow

Here are some more below....but for all the pics, click here.

  1. Ooh, I'm so excited for you. What year was the house built?

I'm over in Saugerties, full time just last month.
    Good luck!-Priscilla

  2. Hi Priscilla! So glad you "stopped by"... :-)
The house was actually built in 1970 which judging from the architecture appears to be a 50's modernist home with a butterfly roof! I was shocked at the year. It must have been built by a design enthusiast or architect. I am hoping to get all that juicy information from the owners at closing. They were the 2nd owners and moved in 1987 into the house.

Are you a full timer, or a weekender? Thanks for reading my blog and check out Upstater if you haven't already! (though I am sure that is how you found me!)

  3. I am (as of this past October) a full timer. We've had a house in Ulster Co. since 2000.

I am surprised by the age of the house, I agree with you about the 50s. I am a terrazzo enthusiast too.
Can't wait to see what you do with it.

  4. Fantastic house! Can't wait to see what you do with it. My husband, toddler and I are weekenders in Chichester, just outside of Phoenicia, and love reading about your exploits--though I don't know if we could ever actually bite the bullet and leave Fort Greene for full time city life---yet!

I also thought your old house was adorable...did you manage to sell it already?
